The Otago OSA/SPIE Student Chapter, in collaboration with Quantum Science Otago, is thrilled to announce Luminescence: The Spectrum of Science, a fair in celebration of the International Year of Light 2015!
The event is FREE, open to the public and suitable for people of all ages – children, parents, teachers, students, and anyone else with an interest in science and technology...
Luminescence is being run by students of the University Of Otago Department Of Physics who have a passion for making science fun, exciting and accessible to everyone!
Come along and have your eyes opened to the illuminating world of light-based science and technology (think fibre optics, lasers, solar power, telescopes...), listen and chat to scientists working on cutting-edge research in these fields, and participate in a variety of fun, interactive demos.
Running all throughout the day will be an exciting program of activities, interactive demonstrations and talks by physics students and staff, and other members of the community about the incredible ways that light and light-based technologies are used in our world. Drop in for half an hour or stay all day, there will be plenty to see and do!
There will also be an exhibition of the top entries of our Luminescence Photography Competition, check out the link to find out more and enter your photo!
